Obretenik is a village in the Central part of Northern Bulgaria. It is located in Borovo municipality, Rousse district.
It is 32 km southwest of Ruse, 12 km north of Borovo, 47 km east of Svishtov, 210 km northwest of Varna and 265 km northeast of Sofia.

The village is located in the eastern part of the Danube plain, at an altitude of 250 m.
Obretenik is located 2 km from the international road E 85, part of the transport corridor № 9. There is a regular bus transport on the line Ruse-Batin. At 11 km there is a railway. the bus stop in the town of Dve Mogili, which provides a connection in the directions Ruse-Gorna Oryahovitsa and Ruse-Sofia.
The rivers Danube and Yantra flow within a radius of 10 km. The relief is flat and hilly, and the climate is temperate continental. Summers are dry and hot, and winters are cold.
Obretenik is a well-developed village with a population of about 1560 people. It is electrified, supplied with water and communication networks. There is a town hall, a post office, a primary school, a community center, a health service, a pharmacy and various commercial sites.
The population is mainly employed in agriculture, which is developed mainly by two agricultural cooperatives.
