Immigration to Malta
Malta is a popular tourist destination, but most of those who want to get a residence permit or citizenship here do not plan to do it for the sake of moving to the island state.
The second passport is a guarantee of security, the ability to travel around the world without a visa, as well as the right to live permanently in any country of the European Union. However, the opportunity to settle in Malta, which is famous for high-quality education, a pleasant climate and a stable economy, also appears.
In 2014, Malta launched the investment citizenship program (Malta Individual Investor Program). Its main conditions are to invest about €1 million in the local economy and pass a strict security check. In return, a year later you get a Maltese passport, which means that you can freely enter most countries of the world, including the United States, and you can permanently live in European countries.
The following year, 2015, the Malta Residence and Visa Program was launched. The amount of investment is much lower, but there are fewer opportunities: visa-free entry to the Schengen area with the right to stay up to 90 days per half-year. But you will receive the necessary documents in a few months, and you can live in Malta without restrictions.
