Prestigious castle in Tuscany, where
In the heart of Tuscany, in the Casentino area, there is this ancient castle for sale, a property of great charm that dates back to the 11th century, when it was owned by the Conti Guidi family. The large tower that overlooks the small surrounding village was built later, in the thirteenth century, when the property became the actual stately home of the illustrious family. At the beginning of the 14th century, between 1310 and 1311, the famous poet Dante Alighieri was a guest here, during the period of his exile from Florence, and it was within these walls that he composed the three famous letters "To the Princes and Peoples of Italy", “Ai Fiorentini”, “Ad Arrigo VII”. When the Counts left the castle in 1442, it first became the property of the Republic of Florence and then of the Municipality of Stia; it was finally sold at the end of the 18th century to an ancestor of the current owners, who, from the 1960s, dedicated themselves to carefully restoring the castle. The works lasted over ten years and were directed by the Fine Arts Office. The three lower floors of the castle are currently used as a museum and can be visited, while the three upper floors are the actual residence. Ref. 5738
