History

Schwarzenbach Castle is dated 1706.

Until 1930, descendants of the German aristocrats Petrus and Judith von Gershen, representatives of an old German noble family known since the XII century, lived in the Schwarzenbach estate.

Until 2014, the villa belonged to Denes Festetic de Tolna, a representative of the Festetic family, whose history dates back to 1566. The Festetici are a noble and wealthy family who came to Austria–Hungary from Croatia and became famous for patrons who actively support art and science.

The garages of Schwarzenbach Castle, as well as the swimming pool and the tower were built by architect Heinz Kareus in 1974-1989.

The current owner of Schwarzenbach turned to one of the leading construction companies ZEBAU for a major overhaul, which was successfully completed in 2020. The renovation was done manually, so everything in the castle was restored carefully, with great respect for the past of this place.

Location

Schwarzenbach Castle is located in the town of St. Wolfgang (Sankt Wolfgang im Salzkammergut) in the famous "land of lakes" Salzkammergut on the very shore of Lake Wolfgangsee (Wolfgangsee).

The surroundings of St. Wolfgang have been widely known among European aristocrats since the XIX century. Here, in picturesque places with healing air and water, people have been striving for treatment and rest for the third century in a row.

St. Wolfgang is often called a fairy-tale town with "gingerbread", like toy houses, lavishly painted with frescoes.

In summer, the city and the surrounding area turn into a center of a healthy lifestyle, where you can practice tennis, golf, horse riding. Water activities are available on the lake: diving, water skiing, windsurfing, swimming and fishing. In winter, from the comfortable in all respects St. Wolfgang to the best ski resorts can be reached in just half an hour.

Spiritual food

Various musical events are regularly held in St. Wolfgang: operetta evenings, jazz festivals, classical concerts.
