While owners of the northern Fiji Islands generally keep a very low profile, there are a number of big name neighbours in this region - reportedly Mel Gibson bought a neighbouring island for $15 million in 2005, Jim January, the billionaire founder of Oakley, owns a home and resort in the area also and nearby a well-known island resort was founded by then owner of Red Bull.

The retreat is accessible via either seaplane or boat. A boat ride from Taveuni Island (nearest airport) is approximately 25 minutes. The property was constructed over a 10-year period by a Californian couple to enjoy with their children and grandchildren as a holiday home, but they now find they don’t get there enough.
