History: Waidmannslust dates back to the villa colony, which was founded on land acquired in 1875 by forester and innkeeper Ernst Bondik. The area got its name from the Gasthaus Waidmannslust run by Bondik.

In 1884, the colony received its own station on the Berlin Northern Railway, today's Waidmannslust station. Between 1908 and 1912, the line was raised to its current level; the station building and bridges over the Damm Weidmannsluster also date from this period and are currently under monument protection.

Since 1913, the Königin-Luise-Kirche at the corner of Bondick and Hochjagdstraße (formerly: Kirchstraße) has been a landmark of the area, visible from afar.
In 1920, Waidmannslust was incorporated into Greater Berlin as part of the rural community of Lubars from the Niederbarnim district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg and has since belonged to the Berlin district of Reinickendorf.

On May 2, 1929, the tram line was extended along Wittenauer Cyclopstrasse (today partly Jean-Jaures-Strasse) to Waidmannslust station. Until the end of World War II, Line 68 passed through here.

After 1945, Waidmannslust was part of the French sector of Berlin. The residence of the French city commandant in Berlin was located at Bondickstraße 1-4.
