Description

Villa Ginori - La Piaggetta

Villa Ginori is situated in Versilia in a lagoon area on the edge of Lake Massaciuccoli and is part of the Migliarino-San Rossore-Massaciuccoli Natural Park.
In 1887 the proprietor of the famous Florentine ceramics company Marquis Carlo Benedetto Ginori Lisci bought the villa and carried out a radical restructuring of the buildings and the surrounding garden. Since that time, the property has remained in the family.
The architectural style of the main villa is Tuscan-neo-Gothic. The interiors have been enriched by the beautiful art nouveau frescos of the famous painter Francesco Fanelli, one of the main artists within the Giovanni Fattori Circle.
The villa has always been an important cultural landmark of the Versilia area and was frequented by great artists including Giacomo Puccini. Puccini spent a lot of time at the villa as he was a great friend of the Marquis Ginori, so much so that he dedicated one of his most famous works to him: La Bohème.
The property consists of the main villa, three detached houses, a private chapel, a lemon house and some warehouse rooms.
The main villa, in a fine neo-Gothic style, measures approximately 1,200 square meters and straddles the mainland and the water. There is an enchanting canal which leads to a private covered dock with vaulted ceilings directly under the villa. It is possible to reach Torre del Lago Puccini directly by boat as well as the Viareggio port.
Spread over 4 levels, the ground floor has warehouse rooms and the covered dock for boats. On the first floor is a magnificent porch and a spacious living room and dining room with original frescos as well as a winter garden room. There is also the kitchen and bathroom and a secondary entrance. On the second floor are the bedrooms and bathrooms. On the third floor the windowed attics can easily be renovated into more rooms. There is also a turret with a lookout area on the top of the roof with a spectacular panorama.
The villa is surrounded by a beautiful lawned garden with a pond for water lilies and numerous exotic plants.
The other three units consist of an eighteenth-century building of approximately 800 square meters on three levels which has been partially renovated. There is also a farmhouse to be completely renovated with an area of approximately 400 square meters. A third independent house with a spacious hall has also been partially renovated for an area of approximately 280 square meters. There is also a loft of approximately 185 square meters, the lemon house of approximately 40 square meters, a study of approximately 40 square meters and a small chapel. There are plenty of onsite parking spaces.
This is a wonderful opportunity to acquire a truly grand historical property in a very unique and private context which is within easy reach of the exclusive beaches of Forte dei Marmi and the renowned cities of Lucca, Florence, and Pisa.
