The castle is located in the town of Dusino San Michele, in the province of Asti, in a strategic location, as it is the gateway to the Monferrato of Asti, which has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List since June 2014.

The first mention of this medieval castle, originally surrounded by several hundred meters of walls, dates back to the XII century, with reconstructions made in the XIV and XV centuries. One of the reconstructions is an elegant multi-layered window decorated with elements of terracotta and tuff, located on the castle wall facing the city.
