Bahrain Has Issued Almost 2,000 Golden Visas to Foreigners

The long-term visa for non-Bahraini citizens is part of Bahrain's economic recovery plan aimed at talented individuals.

According to the Prime Minister of Bahrain, about 2,000 foreigners have used the Golden Visa program since its launch in February in 2022.

Quote. "More than 1,800 people have used the Golden Residency Visa program, which was launched on February 7 this year," said Minister of Finance and National Economy Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, speaking at the Economic Recovery Forum.

"The initiative is aimed at improving the investment environment in various sectors, which supports the national economy and corresponds to the aspirations of the Government and the Economic Vision of Bahrain until 2030. It is also aimed at attracting talented people in various fields of economy, investment, and services, allowing them to permanently reside in Bahrain with their families," he added.

Requirements:

  • Permanently reside in Bahrain for at least five years and receive an average base salary of at least 2,000 Bahraini dinars ($5,300) per month for five years.
  • Own one or more properties in Bahrain worth at least 200,000 Bahraini dinars ($530,600) or be a pensioner with an income of at least 4,000 Bahraini dinars ($10,610) per month.
  • Be a "highly talented" specialist who meets the relevant requirements.
  • One must reside in the Kingdom of Bahrain for at least 90 days a year for the visa to remain valid.

Golden visa holders must renew it every 10 years, if they continue to meet the eligibility criteria.
