The authorities of Tabanera de Cerrato, which has fewer than 150 residents, are looking for a family to move. The interest for applicants is that they are offered a home and a business, writes Noticia.ru.
"We are looking for a family with children to move to a new 85-square-meter house in Tabanera de Cerrato to live there and run a grocery store on the ground floor," the city hall said in an announcement.
In the restored mansion, the second floor is reserved for a living area, while a grocery store should be opened on the first floor. It should become an important part of the infrastructure for local residents.
The authorities promise to help in the development of business. However, the family itself must be "adventurous, seek change, and be ready to adapt to life in Castile."
Another condition is the presence of children due to the following: this will allow the city to demand the opening of a school in Tabaner, the mayor said.
There were many people who wanted to respond, both Spaniards and foreigners. For example, the Dutch, Germans, French, as well as residents of Uruguay and Argentina wanted to move to a tiny Spanish settlement. The local administration received several hundred calls and stopped counting after five hundred.
By the way, those Italian towns that are selling houses for 1 Euro traditionally get a big response too. Recently, a similar offer appeared in the Sicilian Troina, where dozens of abandoned houses are put up for sale at a price not exceeding the price of a cup of coffee. Moreover, the local authorities are so eager to attract new residents to the deserted historic center that they are ready to help with the cost of repairs to those buyers who agree to settle here, writes CNN.
The mayor of Troina, Sebastiano Fabio Venezia, hopes that the project, launched at the end of November 2020, will breathe new life into the historic city center. The population of the latter has been steadily declining over the past few decades as many locals have moved to more modern homes in the surrounding area or to other cities.
To speed up the process of selling dilapidated homes, the Mayor of Troina organized a multilingual working group consisting of housing and law experts to assist buyers throughout the transaction process, as well as the online agency HouseTroina.
It is on the website of this agency that the first offers for the sale of houses for one euro will appear at the end of January. Interested buyers will be able to view the objects and send the project of renovation of this housing to the address casea1euro@comune.troina.en.it.
