What happened? To combat depopulation, the Italian municipality of Roseto-Valfortore in the province of Foggia (Apulia) announced a tender, offering to pay €5,000 to those who will move here. You can participate only until February 28. The initiative is aimed not only at families but also at those who want to start their businesses.
Details. One of the most beautiful villages in Italy, Roseto Valfortore has eventually renamed the "ghost village" due to gradual depopulation. Now a little less than a thousand residents live here. Therefore, the mayor of the municipality Lucilla Parisi decided to attract new residents with an unusual offer.
For whom? The scheme is intended for families who move to the village, as well as for those who start commercial, handicraft, and agricultural activities in Roseto Valfortore.
In total, the municipality allocated €50,000 and clarified that "resources will be allocated under the chronological order of receipt of accepted applications within the availability of funds."
