On March 3, 2021, Quebec announced that it would launch three new immigration programs in the coming weeks, as CIC News has reported. The Ministry of Immigration, Francization and Integration (MIFI) is opening pilot projects for foreign citizens who work in the following sectors: food processing, healthcare, artificial intelligence, information technology and visual effects.
The programs are expected to last no more than five years. The goal is to attract and retain immigrants whose skills match the needs of the Quebec labor market. MIFI will issue Quebec Selection Certificates (CSQ) to a maximum of 550 primary applicants (not including dependents) annually for each pilot project.
The applicant must:
For food industry workers. The pilot project will start operating on March 24. At the time of filing the application, the applicant must already be in Quebec and be able to communicate verbally in French, as well as have experience in the relevant sector in the province for at least two years.
Health care (orderlies). It starts on March 31. Relevant work experience in Quebec – at least one year. Conversational French is also required.
IT. It starts on April 22. To apply, you will need a degree that is listed in Quebec, two years of experience in the relevant position, or a doctorate/master's degree obtained at least 12 months before applying, as well as a job offer from a local employer.
