Spanish Region Will Repair Private Houses For Free

There is one condition.
The Spanish autonomous community of Extremadura wants to update its housing stock and add new affordable rental options. To this end, the region has launched the Rehabilitation program, which consists of the transfer of the real estate to the state company Urvipexsa in exchange for its free restoration and subsequent rental.
The rental income should, if possible, cover the costs of reconstruction. After the investment is paid off by rent, the renovated house is returned to the owner's property.
The aim is to restore some of the existing empty houses in the municipalities of Extremadura, contributing to the renovation by the criteria of energy efficiency.
Among the noteworthy goals of this measure are the restoration of empty houses, improving energy efficiency, correcting the situation of the population, restoring urban centers, and ensuring access to housing.
In the city of Olivenza, the restoration of the first four houses belonging to the hospital and Santa Casa de Misericordia de Olivenza has already begun, which has accepted the public appeal and will be managed by Urvipexsa for 15 years.
The action consists of a comprehensive rehabilitation of these four houses with partial roof replacement, aerothermal energy, and energy improvement, which will mean a reduction in the consumption of non-renewable primary energy by more than 60%.
