In late spring, Thai authorities have announced plans to introduce visas for digital nomads and remote workers (Destination Thailand Visa). Now, details about the applicant requirements have been released.
Here's what is already known
- The new visa will be valid for 180 days within a year, with the possibility of extending it for another 180 days.
- The primary applicant must be at least 20 years old, and they can bring their spouse and children up to the age of 20.
- Remote workers will be exempt from taxes on income earned from sources outside Thailand.
- Applicants will need to show sufficient funds for living in the country – at least 500,000 THB (~$13,9 thousand)
- The cost of the visa is 10,000 THB ($278).
The exact launch date for the visa is expected to be announced by the end of July. If you're not ready to wait, there's also the Thailand Privilege program currently in place. This program offers the simplest legal way to stay in Thailand for more than three months or to frequently visit for business without extensive bureaucracy.
