Since the beginning of the pandemic, the occupancy rate of hotels around the world has fallen sharply due to a reduction in the number of trips, but the apartment hotel sector has remained resistant to change. Aapartment management brands operating in the Asia-Pacific region have adapted their service model to the changing needs of users and have reached 80% occupancy during the crisis.
According to Michael Roberts, Director for Hotels, Asia Pacific at Savills, major brands have strict regulations, including hygiene protocols, which gives guests more confidence in safety than Airbnb-style accommodation. This allows the sector to outpace both conventional hotels and alternative accommodation options.
