What happened? Ollolai is a town in the interior of Sardinia in the province of Nuoro, where a project for the sale of houses for one euro was already launched in 2018. However, now the current administration also offers rental housing at a symbolic price. Initially, 30 houses and 20 commercial premises will be available for rent.
Requirements. Both Italian and foreign citizens can participate in the initiative to rent houses for euros in Ollolai. The main thing is to prove your readiness to live in the town and demonstrate a plan of life in this place.
How does it work? The rent of one euro will remain so for five years, after which it will be regulated by market rules (approximately €250 per month). The project was developed by the municipality in cooperation with the Ollolai Community Cooperative and the AEPi Confederation (National Department of Rural and Mountainous Territories).
Bonuses. Additional benefits are provided for participants, such as three-year bonuses for children, free textbooks, payment of fees for school transport, gaming, and entertaining seminars.
Quote. As explained by AEPi's mountain area manager Efisio Arbau, the goal is to "discover the other side of Sardinia, the hinterlands, aromas, tastes, archaeology and the vast heritage that we want to unite."
