The UAE Has Simplified the Rules for Obtaining "Golden Visas"

The amendments allow sponsoring members of the applicant's family and servants without limiting the number of such workers. In addition, there are now no restrictions on the maximum length of stay outside the UAE to maintain the status.
The UAE Cabinet of Ministers, headed by Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has approved new rules of the Federal Decree-Law on Entry and Residence of Foreigners.
"Golden visas." The amendments allow the holder of a "golden visa" to sponsor family members, including spouses and children, regardless of their age, and servants without limiting their number. In addition, there are no more restrictions related to the maximum length of stay outside the UAE to preserve the validity of the "golden visa." Also, family members get benefits that allow them to stay in the UAE in the event of the applicant's death until the expiration of the relevant permit.
Real estate investors can now get a "golden visa" when buying an object worth at least 2 million dirhams ($544,500).
Green Residence. A five-year residence permit for freelancers and self-employed persons without a sponsor or employer in the UAE and for investors establishing or participating in commercial activities. It replaces the previous residence permit, which was valid for two years.
New types of accommodation. A five-year visa must attract talents, qualified specialists, freelancers, investors, and entrepreneurs.
New entry visas. New types of visas don't need a host or sponsor. In addition, all entry visas are available for single or multiple entries and can be extended for a similar period, and stay valid for 60 days from the date of their issuance.
Entry visa for job search. It does not require a sponsor or a host party. It is provided to persons assigned to the first, second, or third level of qualification under the Ministry of Human Resources. The minimum level of education must be a bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
A business entry visa is an entry without a sponsor or a host party to encourage investors and entrepreneurs to explore business and investment opportunities in the UAE.
Tourist visa. A five-year multiple-entry tourist visa has been introduced, which does not require a sponsor. In this case, you will need proof of a bank account of $4,000 or the equivalent of this amount.
Quote. "The new entry and residence system is aimed at attracting and retaining global talents and skilled workers from around the world, as well as improving the competitiveness and flexibility of the labor market, as well as strengthening the sense of stability among residents and families in the UAE," the Cabinet of Ministers said in a statement.
Deadlines. The new rules will come into force in 90 days.
