  • 101
This time, you can get a cheap house in the village of Bonnanaro in Sardinia, in the province of Sassari.

The Italian municipality of Bonnanaro, Sardinia, in the province of Sassari, decided to arrange a sale of houses for one euro. The goal is to combat depopulation and abandonment – the traditional troubles of towns located in rural areas and the interior of Italy.

Details. The local council of Bonnanaro approved a resolution authorizing the purchase of houses for one euro to stimulate the reconstruction of the historic center and attract new residents to settle in the village. Moreover, the possible purposes for which the houses purchased for one euro can be used are for residential, commercial and tourist accommodation.

The municipality launches a procedure valid for three years. Those who want to buy a property at a symbolic price can refer to the documents on the local council website. A prerequisite is to start repair work within two months after the purchase permit is issued.

What kind of place? Bonnanaro is located in the valley between the Pelao and Arana mountains. The village has a predominantly agricultural economy and is known for growing grapes and cherries. In the historical center, some estates of the XVIII and XIX centuries have been preserved intact, including the churches of Santa Maria, Santa Barbara, Santa Croce, and San Giorgio.
