The mansion is located on the banks of the Blackwater River, which is considered one of the best places in Ireland for salmon fishing, in convenient transport accessibility to both Dublin and Cork.
The house, made in the Palladian style, by the famous architect Abraham Hargrave, was built around 1801 for the famous Hyde family, from which Douglas Hyde was the first president of Ireland.
The facade of the estate faces south, where the Blackwater River flows. The layout of the house was specially thought out so that the windows of almost all rooms faced the river.
In 1999, the estate was acquired by the family of the current owners. Within 4 years, a grandiose reconstruction project of the building was completed, thanks to which it was completely transformed and is currently considered one of the best in Ireland.
