The former summer residence of the papal nuncios (ambassadors of the Vatican), the residential villa "PAX" was built in the representative area of Karlovy Vary, on Palatsky Square. This quiet place is located about 300 m from the spa area and the shopping center of Karlovy Vary.
Residential villa "PAX" is a four-storey villa of the 1930s. According to preserved historical sources, this building was built by the nuncio Archbishop Petrus Kyriakos, later appointed cardinal. During the Second World War and even after it, during the period of totalitarianism, the residential villa remained in the ownership of the Holy See – the Vatican. After the Velvet Revolution, the residential villa was sold to the Royal Collegiate Chapter of St. Peter and Paul in Visegrad. Then the villa was acquired by a private company.
The residential villa "PAX" was renovated in 2002-2003 and supplemented with a winter garden. The entire building has undergone a complete renovation, both outside and inside. Instead of the original tin roof of 1948, natural slate was used, including on the tower. The facade is repaired and insulated. Compared to the original plan of the building, the area of the two-car garage, where the winter garden was located, has been increased. Inside the building, all engineering networks, communications, etc. have been completely replaced. During the reconstruction, we tried to preserve the most valuable elements, namely: massive oak entrance doors, mosaics in the entrance, parts of the stucco decoration, parquet floors in the rooms, original railings. The fireplace made of Indian white marble replaced the emptied tiled stove.
According to the proposal, the following materials were used:
- interiors of bathrooms and common areas, tiles and ceramic tiles of German and Italian production
- floors in the rooms, original oak parquet
- walls - stucco elements, processing with a trowel for artificial marble, combination with high-quality textile wallpaper.

The lobby has been preserved in its original style, including a 1936 mosaic with the inscription Villa Pax. All interior interiors are equipped with curtains and drapes imported from Italy. The lamps throughout the house were supplied by a Czech company. In the kitchen area there is a built-in kitchen set with a bar counter and a full-fledged dining table, all made of the same material. The kitchen furniture was ordered to order, and the line is equipped with a ceramic hob, oven, dishwasher, microwave, etc. The attic rooms of the residential villa were changed according to the original intention of the owners who wanted to introduce their company. in the Czech Republic.
