Houdan, a popular and lively town, offers visitors some beautiful old buildings such as the Saint-Jacques-et-Saint-Christophe church. It was built in the Gothic style between the 15th and 16th centuries, but has a Renaissance choir. Consecrated Temple of Reason and the Supreme Being in 1790, it presents in its interior a magnificent organ realized by Louis-Alexandre Clicquot in 1739. Vestige of the ancient fortifications of Houdan, the dungeon was built by the Counts of Montfort at the end of the XIIth century. With its twenty-one meters high and fifteen meters in diameter, it is now open to visitors on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and the last Sunday of the month.
