The ancient fishing port of Cambrils, located a few kilometers south of Salou, has in recent years turned into another famous resort center of the Costa Daurada (Dorada). This small picturesque town is conditionally divided into two parts: the historical center, which is a medieval quarter with narrow streets, and the port area with the main embankment, built up with hotels, boarding houses, shopping and entertainment establishments. There is a fish market in the port area, as well as excellent fish restaurants known all along the coast. The resort's nightlife takes place on the waterfront with its many music cafes, restaurants and bars.
Among the main attractions of the old town, the most significant are the church of Iglesia de Santa Maria (IglesiadeSantaMaria), built in the XV century and significantly modified in the XVII century. Not far from Cambrils, among the villas and summer residences, there is the Castillo Viafortuny castle, as well as the Sama Park (ParqueSama), surrounded by massive walls, behind which there is a beautiful colonial-style palace, an artificial lake and romantic gazebos surrounded by wonderful gardens with peacocks and tropical and Mediterranean plants. Another important historical landmark of these places is the Convento de Escornalbou monastery, considered one of the most interesting monuments of medieval architecture of the Costa Daurada (Dorada).
