Slovakia is a relatively new country on the map of Europe: it emerged in 1993 as a result of the collapse of Czechoslovakia. However, today it is a full member of the EU, a part of the Schengen agreement and the Euro area. It is a small, calm and safe country that lives largely on tourism, services and agriculture. Moving to Slovakia is an attractive option for Slavic nations due to the geographical proximity, similarity of language and mentality.
You can get a residence permit in Slovakia on the basis of doing business. This may be a self-employed individual or a SRO, which is the local equivalent of an LLC. The costs are relatively small, and the entire process can be completed in a few months. However, to extend the status the business must show a profit, and this is not that easy.
