It is not always necessary to receive an employer-specific work permit.

What has happened? Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced that the 2024 season of the International Experience Canada (IEC) Program is now open. (IEC) gives young people aged 18-36  the opportunity to travel and work in Canada for up to 2 years.

Details. In 2024, the number of participants will not be reduced; the country will accept up to 90,000 applications under the program, as in 2023.

There are 3 different kinds of work and travel experiences available:

  • Working Holiday. The participants receive an open work permit that allows them to work anywhere in Canada to support their travel and stay.
  • International Co-op (Internship). The participants receive an employer-specific work permit that allows students to gain experience in their field of study.
  • Young Professionals. The participants receive an employer-specific work permit to gain professional work experience within their field of study or career path.

! Important. Only citizens of certain countries can participate in the program.

The detailed information for participants is explained on the official website.
