Тhis initiative is primarily aimed at specialists in the tourism sector.

What has happened

Croatia has launched the country's first foreign worker integration program, "Welcome to Croatia"  in March 2024.
Developed in collaboration between the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) and Edward Bernays Polytechnic, this initiative aims to seamlessly integrate foreign workers into Croatian society and the business ecosystem.

Details

The program starts in Pula from March 25th to the 29th,4 and opens the first series of workshops aimed at foreign workers in the tourism sector.

The participants will become familiar with the fundamentals of Croatian national identity, social and cultural norms and values, as well as linguistic fundamentals, legal framework and workplace safety principles.

These educational efforts are aimed at meeting the integration and basic training needs of third-country nationals, facilitating their easier inclusion in the Croatian social structure and employment.

Why is it important

Luka Burilovic, President of HGK, emphasizes the importance of the program against the backdrop of the expected issuance of more than 170,000 new work permits this year alone.
In combination with Croatian Employment Service (CES) vouchers for learning Croatian for foreigners, the “Welcome to Croatia” program is designed to significantly help foreign workers in their social adaptation, aiming to attract and retain a skilled workforce in Croatia.
