Dubai Will Issue Residence Permits to "Digital Nomads"

Specialists working remotely for foreign employers will get the right to live in the emirate for a year with the possibility of extension.
Dubai authorities have launched a new residency program that will allow professionals working remotely to move and live in the emirate with their families. The program will be valid for one year, after which the residence permit can be extended for a similar period, writes the Gulf Business.
A residence permit under the program will cost the applicant $287 without medical insurance and registration fees.
Holders of a residence permit under this scheme will be able to enjoy all the bonuses available to residents of Dubai, including connecting to local networks, as well as schools for children.
Requirements:
a foreign passport valid at least for six more months
health insurance with coverage in the UAE
employment contract with a current employer for a year and a monthly salary of $5,000 or more
in case of legal entities, proofs of ownership for at least one year and a minimum monthly income of $5,000
Helal Saeed Almarri, the head of Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commercial Marketing, said that the global pandemic has changed the way we live and work. As multinational corporations and leading startups around the world accelerate the pace of digital adoption, the need for a physical presence to perform professional duties has changed.
He also added, that Dubai is uniquely positioned to provide a safe and dynamic lifestyle for these digitally experienced workers and their families as long as they continue to work remotely.

Previously, Barbados and Estonia has introduced a special visa for "digital nomads".
