What has happened? According to preliminary data from Statistics Finland, in the third quarter of 2023, prices for older apartments have decreased by 7.3% compared to the previous year and by 2% from the previous quarter. In July-September, sales of old dwellings in housing companies have decreased by 30% compared to a year earlier.
Regions. From July to September 2023, prices of old dwellings in housing companies have fallen by 7.6% in major cities and by 6.7% in the rest of Finland compared to a year earlier. Prices have decreased the most in Vantaa (-9.3%) and Espoo (-9.0%). Among large cities, prices fell the least in Turku and Oulu – by about 4%.
The prices of new dwellings. In the third quarter of 2023, prices of new dwellings in housing companies have fallen by 3.5% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Compared to the previous quarter, prices went down in the whole country by 4.6%. Sales were 60% lower in the whole country than in the third quarter of 2022.
Regions. Prices of new dwellings have decreased by 4.4 % in Greater Helsinki and by 2.7 % in the rest of the country from one year back. Prices of dwellings in terraced houses went down in the whole country by 8.0 % and those in blocks of flats by 2.2%. Prices of one-room flats have fallen by 7.4%, those of two-room flats by 1.4 %, and those of family flats by 0.9%.
