Almost Half of Spaniards Plan to Change Their Residence

Residents of the kingdom prefer new buildings and do not particularly trust buying via the Internet.
According to Idealista, 42% of Spaniards plan to move to another house in the next five years. This is one of the results of a survey conducted by the local real estate company Vía Célere.
54% of respondents said that they plan to move to better housing. 22% say they are looking for options in a more suitable area, while 19% want to find a place that better meets their current needs identified during the quarantine process. The remaining 5% consider buying a home as an investment.
Two-thirds of Spaniards plan to buy a new building, the remaining third agrees to secondary real estate. The main reason for the popularity of new homes and apartments is their high energy efficiency, 77% of respondents said. 72% choose newly built properties because of better materials, 56%-because of the location of the building, 50% are attracted to modern design, and 40% - internal infrastructure.
72% of the survey participants are particularly attentive to the question of choosing a developer.
According to the study, 58% of the Spanish population lives in their own house or apartment, 26% - in a rented house and 16% - in the house of a relative or friend. However, 83% of respondents admitted that they would like to have their own housing, and only 17% said that they prefer to rent.
The main reason that prevents those who currently rent a house from buying their own house or apartment is the lack of money (92% of cases). 20% of respondents do not think about changing their home yet, and 8% admitted that they can not find a suitable property in the area of interest.
Meanwhile, it is now common in Spain to arrange real estate sales. For example, now the market is exposed to more than 3,500 properties with discounts of up to 40%. And although renting requires less and less amount of money, more Spaniards prefer to rent rooms instead of entire apartments, because it is still cheaper.
At the moment, not all Spaniards are ready to buy a home without personal presence, only 11% of respondents agree to conduct the entire transaction virtually. 42% of respondents noted that they do not mind doing everything via the Internet, but it is important for them to visit the selected property at one of the stages of the transaction. 47% prefer to be present in person at all stages of the process.
