France Obliged Owners to Register the Use of Residential Real Estate

The tax authorities need to know whether the property is a main residence or a holiday home.
All property owners in France have time until June 30, 2023 to submit a new one-time online declaration or a declaration by phone explaining how they use their property. Those owners who do not do this within the specified period will face a fine of €150 for each object.
Why is this necessary? This is done so that the tax authorities have up-to-date information on how to tax real estate, and thus avoid mistakes.
How to do it? Owners must declare whether the property is used as their main place of residence or not, or in a dedicated part of their personal or business space on the impots.gouv.fr, or by phone.
If you have an account, you have to log in and click on the Biens immobiliers tab at the top.
You must indicate who lived or used the property as of January 1, 2023, whether the object is the main or second home, rented, provided to someone for free or empty.
If you rent out an object, you must indicate whether it was provided with or without furniture, or it is used for short-term rental.
