Top 10. Most of the positions in the top ten were taken by Swiss cities, followed by destinations related to the United States. The most expensive city was the capital of Bermuda, Hamilton. Although Bermuda is an overseas territory of Great Britain, geographically and economically they are more connected to the United States.
How did the count? The standard is the New York City expenses. Its indexes are always 100%. The main indicator for Hamilton is 146, which means that the cost of living there is 146% of the New York City indicator. The most expensive groceries are also here - 152%.
The results include foor prices, consumer goods, restaurants, transport and utilities costs. Analysts also used the purchasing power indicator – the ratio of average wages to prices. The rent and the cost of living, including rent, are considered separately.
