  • The crime level. It's not about frequency of robberies. More about hte level of corrusption within the country, expecially among the officials.

  • Taxes and minimal investment. Evaluate the estimated profit and the tax legislation. Specify the minimum size of the authorized capital. If the taxes are too high for you, consider another country.
  • Mentality and culture. Differences in mentality and cultural values can be a serious barrier. Learn how negotiations are conducted in the chosen country, if there is any dress code and specific communication patterns.

United States

The US

The USA is one of the best countries to start a business. And it is not particularly difficult for foreigners either. The most important thing is to get a visa.

Stages of starting a business:

  1. Preparation. Check out what business owners in the United States do, learn about common forms of ownership. Make a business plan, find partners and investors.
  2. Check the name of the future company. Before you register a business, check if there is a company with a similar name in California. You can do this on the Secretary of State's website.
  3. Register with the Chief Secretary of State. An electronic application form is available. In addition to the name of the company and information about the owners, you have to provide the address in California and information about the representative in court. The cost of registration depends on the form of organization and ranges from $10 to $150. Additionally, you may need a PO Box cell (not free of charge). 
  4. Registration with the tax service. You will need an EIN or TIN number. You need it to open a bank account and hire employees. In the first case, you need to fill out an online form, and in the second one, to print and send the form by mail along with all the documents.
  5. License and permission. To do business in the United States, a license and permit are required. You can check this information here.
  6. Opening a bank account. After receiving the identification number, you can open a bank account. The list of documents for registration is set by each bank. Don't forget to confirm your registration with the Secretary of the State.

Canada

Canada

Take a closer look at Canada. For example, there are several programs of assistance to immigrants. You can open a business in Canada, if you meet one of three conditions:

  • You are an entrepreneur in your home country and have earned at least $300,000.
  • You have earned $1.6 million, you want to be an investor and you plan to invest half of this amount in a business in Canada.
  • You are a qualified professional with a higher education and know English and French. They are official in Canada.

Brazil

Probably, did not think of that, did you? Pay attention to South America and Brazil in particular. The government approves of foreign investors, but it is quite difficult to settle here. You need to pay more than $10,000 just  to get a legal address.

To open a business, you need at least $50,000. If you can convince the Immigration Board of the importance of your business, this amount can be reduced.

Do not forget that Brazil has a high level of corruption and a complex tax system. So get ready for a lot of spending.

Argentina

Argentina

Business registration in Argentina is easier than in Brazil. And there is a friendlier attitude towards foreigners.

Nuances of openning a business:

  • business registration costs $7,000;
  • the minimum amount of the authorized capital is $12,000;
  • if you plan to get a residence permit in the future, you need to invest $170,000.

Germany

Germany

Just a few years ago Germany was very rarely chosen as a country for foreign business. Until 2012 it was necessary to invest at least €250,000 and organize at least 5 vacancies.

Now the requirements are not so strict. To open a business in Germany, you need a business plan and permission from the authorities of the land on which it will operate. Take full responsibility for writing a business plan. Everything must be described in detail.

Be prepared for the fact that you will need to hire lawyers or intermediaries who will advise you on starting and running a business.

Italy

Italy

Italians and foreigners have equal rights in the conduct of business. You do not need to prove to the authorities the importance of your case. The size of your profit is also not important to them, it is important that taxes are received on time and in full. If you do not need a residence permit, then Italy is the best option for starting and running a business. But if you do, there is a special program for financially independent applicants.

China

In China, you need to open a large business, otherwise you can not count on profit. It is quite unprofitable to open a small production with a small turnover of goods.

There are a number of fields closed to foreigners. Check them out before opening your production. The size of the authorized capital depends on the province in which you are going to start a business.

Japan

Japan

The government of the country does not create any barriers for foreigners to do business, although many believe otherwise. You must obtain a tourist or work visa in order to assure the seal of the company. The authorized capital can be deposited within 5 years.

There are no special restrictions on doing business in Australia. It is important for the government that local residents are employed. As a businessman, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • bank account for doing business abroad for $250,000;
  • at least 3 Australian employees;

The entrepreneur must stay on the island for 9 months of the year, without going anywhere.
