The ranking of the best cities in the world.

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has published the annual ranking of the world's most livable cities.

The EIU ranked 173 cities based on several factors, including health, crime rate, political stability, infrastructure, and access to green spaces.

TOP 10 best cities to live in 2022:

  1. Vienna, Austria
  2. Copenhagen, Denmark
  3. Zurich, Switzerland
  4. Calgary, Canada
  5. Vancouver, Canada
  6. Geneva, Switzerland
  7. Frankfurt, Germany
  8. Toronto, Canada
  9. Amsterdam, Netherlands
  10. Osaka, Japan, and Melbourne, Australia

Key facts:

  • Although Europe has shown very good results in 2022, two notable participants are missing — London and Paris. The rising cost of living has played a role in both megacities, as has the UK's decision to leave the European Union.
  • Damascus, Lagos, and Tripoli are among the three least livable cities in the world.
  • Australia has shown the most noticeable drop in the rating this year. Although Melbourne topped the list in the past, it dropped to 10th place in 2022.
